February 25 is the anniversary of the birth of George Harrison. He was a musician, poet, humanitarian and great spiritualist.

Of all the Beatles, he was my favorite. I always take more from his music than others. Every listen to every song he penned, enables me to discover something new. His tunes bring me solace and aid in my overall enlightenment.

For the fourth Studio 303 collection, I went back through the vast Harrison catalog and chose some of the messages that I’ve connected with over the years.

The mix starts with some general message songs, and while Love is a general theme through all his music, the next section pays attention to specific love (God and romantic). The final are direct life living and spiritual messages.

Two powerful Harrison songs, Something and Awaiting on You All do not appear here, as they are slated for the March and April releases… stay tuned. read more »

I’ve had a fit of creative “bleh” lately and Studio 303 Records was a victim as well as Radio Free Jersey.  The goal when I created Studio 303 Records, was to produce a compilation every month at least.  I want to catch up to Initial Sounds. So, I found myself dry and three months behind.

Then, after working on several projects for CDL, I had a burst of inspiration.  Who doesn’t like companionship?  If you are as big a music geek as me, then songs become your friends.  While in the middle of a review of something, my random playlist backed Isis by Dylan against Celestine by Kirsty MacColl.  Divine intervention?  The next song was Winona by Matthew Sweet, so I will take “What is yes” for $1,000, Alex.

For Diciotto Donne (Italian for Eighteen Women), I culled my collection to find songs about women, with their names in title.  The only rule was that it to be technically one name tittles.  For example “Violet Beuregarde” wouldn’t count because it’sa first and last name.  Emmy Lou and St. Matthew count, because the women described therein, go by those names.

I have stayed away from the list meme for a while, but anyone who really knows me (and you want to really know me, so that’s why you read this), knows that I have had a life long issue with my name. I was born Robert Daniel, but my mom called me Danny all my life and it drove me batty. I always identified with, and saw my self as a Robert. Some in my family get this, some of my oldest friends do as well.

It’s true, I kept trying to use a version of my middle name, but I never felt like “me.”

So, it is with that back story, that I present to you a list that I found on my friend Lily’s blog.

1. WRITE YOUR FULL NAME: Robert Daniel Mathers.  See back story, above.  Although according to the Catholic Church, I am Robert Daniel Robert Mathers.  Call it confusion during confirmation.

2. WITNESS PROTECTION NAME:(mom’s middle name, dads middle name): Nelson Anthony
