Reason #41 Why I Hate MTV

So, I’m wolfing down a sandwich and catching up on my reading, when I see that the idiots at MTV want to remake the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Why?  Can’t we leave well enough alone?  Are all the good ideas done?  Is there no new creative thought?

Rocky Horror is a classic cinematic masterpiece (especially when you are a teenager in a small North Jersey Town).  It was one thing to take the stage show and make a film, but I really can’t see anyone other than Tim Curry on the big screen.

It may be time to relocate to the islands sooner than I thought…

‘Cause You Gotta Have Goals

Having a quick bite and I came across this little nugget in the Boston Globe.  Charles Yardley Chittick, who died Friday at age 107, just led the procession at his former high school in June.  Apparantly, Chittick was the last surviving member of the Phillips Academy, in Andover Mass (known for the complete lack of talent that is Jay Leno), from 90 years ago!

Charles, a graduate of MIT, took a gig with a golf club maker, instead of with Thomas Edison.  However, the line that struck me was this:

“As students at Phillips Academy, Chittick and Humphrey Bogart lived across a hall from each other and did not like each other, according a book about the movie star.”

When I die in 2077 (I will be 104, because I want to see the Tri Centenial), they may blog this about me:

“According to books by all the members of Aerosmith, Gary Cherone of Extreme, Dawn Wells, Peter Wolf, and countless other stars, in the mid-1990’s, Robert was a great escort when celebrities visiting WZLX would need to be shown the restroom.”

Siren Festival Shots

SirenMy good friend Slickbyrd and I went to Coney Island yesterdato take in the sights and some of the music at the Village Voice Siren Festival. The walk along the boardwalk was fun – the amazing sites that are just so not the boardwalks I am used to.  I will totally take the Jersey Shore (as in SOUTH JERSEY) any day – but this was real fun.

I am hooked by the Helio Sequence… they could be the new summer soundtrack, sitting at the right hand of Bob Dylan.  Anyone who can whip out a live cover of The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows” and pull it off is OK in my book.

Slickbyrd and I took our cameras out for the first of what promises to be many shooting days this summer.  As a result, and in an effort to be more accessible… I left Photagious for Flickr.  See the new RDM Image here, with the Siren Festival shots and the Post Roof Hang.
