Yesterday, I set a personal record: 20 minutes from the time I walked into Ikea in Elizabeth to when I put the new chest of drawers I bought into my Volkswagen. I hit most of the shortcuts, avoided three fighting couples and resisted the scent of Swedish Meatballs.
The only downside to the whole, getting the new Malm and assembling it, is carrying it up three flights of stairs. I learned yesterday that it is better to take the parts out of he box and carry them in several smaller loads. It’s summer, the last thing I want is a hernia.
I have been assembling Ikea furniture for just over 20 years. It was a special skill my (italian) Dad passed onto me and my brothers. At one point yesterday, I realized if I ever get totally fed up I can always get a job assembling furniture for Ikea. I have a collection of allen wrenches, a hammer and two screw drivers – that’s all I would need.
So… aside from art, one more room done. I just need to finish up the build on the new Studio 303 and then Radio Free Jersey will officially go into production.
