Stuck in Newark with the Secaucus Blues

I am writing this post on the BlackBerry, while waiting for the next train to take us to NYC.

I take a NJ transit train from Montclair almost every day. Lately, the fates of transportation have been conspiring with other forces trying to bring me down. Our train has limped into Newark Broad Street and we have been waiting here for almost an hour for a new train.

So, I offer some advice when looking for a place to live: when the real estate agent says, “It’s just a quick 20 minute train ride to the city,” make sure you ask a local.

The good news is, I have finished the journal and have just completed an article in the NY Times about Alzheimer’s. I think I may be losing my mind.

Happy Wednesday that feels like a Monday.

New Slide Show

I am catching up on the Lens Project. Here is a slide show from a trip to Maine in October of 2007.

Link will open a pop up window.

Yes, Virginia, it has been a while.

The more blogs I read, the more I wish that I could devote the time to keeping this new incarnation up.  Of course as I think about it more, I realize that it’s not really time I need, but will and discipline.  I work a lot.  I think about work a lot, even when I am home.   It’s all for good reason, as we have a great deal going on.  What I have become increasingly aware of, is that my thoughts of late seem to focused on a few central topics going on at my job and some wonderful personal stuff.

Of course, to lead better lives, we need to lead balanced lives.  So, as I end 2007 and start 2008, this is the week to take stock of everything and get set with the correct foot forward.  If there is one thing I learned this year, it the old addage of putting all your eggs in one basket. I have set a goal for 2008 (and starting now) of leading a more balanced life.  I will try not to depend on any one person too much – you get let down way to easily that way.

Sage advice?  Hardly – just thoughts that have found their way here.
